Local man injured by junta’s artillery attack in Ye

HURFOM: On July 29th, 2024, there was a battle between the military junta and the joint resistance forces near Lane Maw Chan village, Ye Township, Mon State. A 49-year-old man from the village was injured by the junta’s artillery attack.

More than 300 junta troops have attempted to regain control of the Ye – Dawei Highway Road. They clashed with the local resistance forces. The 317^th artillery regiment based in Maw Ka Nin launched the artillery attack that injured the local man.

“He wasn’t at his home. He was on his way when he was hit by the artillery attack. He sustained minor injuries to his chest and leg. Now, he is receiving treatment at the Lamine General Hospital,” said a local source.

Local sources report that since July 25th, the military junta has launched attacks on Maw Ka Nin, Maw Ka Nin new village, Ka Nin Ka Maw, Aung Thar Yar, Lane Maw Chan and Hnit Ka Yin villages in Ye Township.

“We heard the sound of heavy and small weapons yesterday (July 29th). There have been armed clashes every day in Ye Town. There are no casualties but we have to live with worry,” said a local villager nearby Lamine Town.

Junta’s security forces have tightened security in the area, and routinely check vehicles, motorbikes and mobile phones of travelers.
