Detonation of Ma Saw Bridge in Bilin causes casualty and injury

HURFOM: On May 23rd, 2024, Ma Saw Bridge on the Yangon – Mawlamyine Highway Road in Bilin Township, Mon State a bomb was detonated and the entire bridge was damaged.
Three motorbikes were traveling along the bridge when the bomb exploded, causing one civilian casualty and multiple injuries.
“We were informed at about 6 am that three motorbikes were involved in the bridge explosion. A man died on the spot while the other three sustained injuries. One of them is in critical condition,” said an official from a local rescue team.
The deceased is a 30-year-old man from Pegu Division. Two women and a man were injured. The injured were sent to the Bilin Township General Hospital.
The highway cannot be used now and truck drivers are using an alternate route that connects Dough Yat and Khel Mount villages.
“The road part is just a mile long but it takes nearly a two-hour drive,” said a truck driver.
