Junta’s air assault kills child in Tha Yet Chaung

HURFOM: On May 17th, 2024, a 15-year-old from Gone Nyin Sate village, Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division was killed by a junta air assault.
“On that day, we saw smoke coming out from Ka Net Thiri and Ka Twelve villages.” said a Ka Net Thiri resident.
Initially Maung Aung Myat Noe was severely injured as well as his mother. The mother sustained an injury to her leg and has been receiving treatment.
“The injury of Maung Aung Myat Noe was very serious and he died the next morning (May 17) while receiving treatment. His body was cremated on the same day,” said a local man.
On May 16th, 2024, the junta targeted Ka Net Thiri, Ka Twelve and Gone Nyin Sate villages with numerous air assaults. There were no active armed clashes in the area.
However, on May 8, 2024, the military base in Pell Dat village, Tha Yet Chaung Township was attacked and resistance forces took control of the village. In response the military junta targeted Ka Net Thiri, Ka Twelve and Gone Nyin Sate villages with multiple air assaults. The junta’s air assaults have killed at least six villagers and injured ten.
