Civil Disobedience Movement member and vendor arrested in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: In the last week of February, 2024, a schoolteacher who joined the “Civil Disobedience Movement – CDM” and a male vendor from Kyike Hto Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta.

On February 21st, 35-year-old CDM schoolteacher, Daw Phyu Phyu Khine from Mell Yone Gyi village was arrested by the junta at the “Lat Pya” check-point in Kyike Hto City.

On February 25th, 40-year-old vendor Ko Ka Lar, from Aung Chan Thar Ward, Kyike Hto City was arrested at his home at night.

The military informants posted the photo of the CDM schoolteacher on their Telegram channel. After that, the teacher did not go into the city and stayed in the village. We don’t know why she went to the city on that day. Vendor Ko Ka Lar was arrested at his home,” said a Kyike Hto resident.

Daw Phyu Phyu Khine has been sent to a military interrogation center, but family members of Ko Ka Lar do not know his whereabouts.

In the last 3 years, more than 900 civilians from Mon State have been arrested by the military junta, according to the New Rehmonnya Federated Force.
