Junta’s troops recklessly shoot and injure villager in Bilin

HRUFOM: On February 25th, 2024, the 409th Light Infantry Battalion based in Win Tar Ban village, Bilin Township, Mon State, recklessly shot and injured a villager.

According to local sources and the Thaton District Karen National Union, junta troops shot 33-year-old Saw Cha Wall near the “Naung Ka Tote” stream. He sustained an injury to his left elbow.

He went into the forest to collect bamboo. He encountered the regiment and was shot. He was able to run and escape because he’s very familiar with the jungle route. His injury isn’t life-threatening,” said a Win Tar Ban villager.

There has been a prolonged battle between the military junta and the Karen National Liberation Army in Win Tar Ban village since December 13, 2023.The entire village fled their homes. In the first week of February, 2024, some villagers started to return home, according to local sources.

The Thaton District Karen National Union said the military junta entered Win Tar Ban village on February 21st and 22nd and burgled houses and stole valuables and livestock.
