Two young boys injured by junta’s artillery attack in Thein Za Yet

HURFOM: On January 16th, 2024, the military junta targeted Thone Kwa village, Thein Za Yet Town, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State with multiple artillery attacks that injured two young boys.
The 310th Artillery Regiment based in Thane Za Ye launched at least five artillery attacks targeting Kyauk Pone Gyi and Thone Kwa villages. 17-year-old Maung Zaw Zaw Aung and 19-year-old Maung Hla Myoe Htwe sustained injuries to their backs and thighs.
“The junta targeted the village when there were no active armed clashes; artillery shells exploded near my house in the eastern village. Two young boys sustained injuries while they were at home,” said a Thone Kaw resident.
The two victims were sent to Thane Za Yet General Hospital. It was determined their injuries are not life-threatening.
Ever since February 1, 2021 Thane Za Yet residents have been worried about the junta’s artillery attacks and landmines.
