Seven residents arrested in a week in Ye Township

HURFOM: In the second week of December, 2024, the military junta arrested seven residents, from Ye Township, Mon State. Those arrested include school teachers who have been involved in “Civil Disobedience Movement – CDM”
On December 12th, the junta used excessive force to arrest a CDM schoolteacher and two home tutors in Ah Sin village, Ye Township.
During the arrest, the junta’s forces conducted a rigorous search of the homes.
“They searched the houses during the arrest and seized cash and phones,” said an Ah Sin villager.
On December 13th, U Nee, a fishing industry owner, and his driver U Kyaw were arrested by the junta and their belongings were also seized.
On December 13th and 14th, the junta also arrested three family members who run a “chewable betel nut shop” in Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township after accusing them of supporting the People’s Defense Force.
The arrested seven residents have not been released as of December 20th, 2024.
