Junta’s police forces shot and injure mentally ill man in Ye

HURFOM: On May 5th, 2024, a mentally ill man from Yan Myoe Aung Ward, Ye Town, Mon State was shot by the junta’s police forces and sustained a serious injury.
30-year-old Ko Zu Zu encountered an area being patrolled by the police and was shot while he tried to run away.
“He encountered the police’s patrol while walking along Aye Thu Kha Hospital Road at Aung Mingalar Ward in the morning. He was shot and sustained an injury to his right knee,” said a local source.
Ko Zu Zu was admitted to the Ye General Hospital for treatment which involved amputating his right knee.
“Since the last week of April, the military has been patrolling and indiscriminately shooting very frequently in Ye,” said a Ye resident.
The military junta has declared martial law in Ye Township and reinforced their troop presence in the township.
