Young man from Thar Yar Mon village not released yet as arrest prolongs more than a week

HURFOM: On August 19th, 2025, an 18-year-old young man from Thar Yar Mon village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division encountered with a military regiment in Kaw Hline village and the regiment arrested him. The army claimed they found evidence in his mobile phone that he had a connection with revolutionary armed groups.

HURFOM: Residents are once again fleeing their homes after three consecutive days of clashes in the Kanbauk area of Yebyu Township, Dawei District, where junta forces have been firing artillery shells into civilian villages.
According to local sources and resistance groups, fighting broke out on August 25 between junta troops and allied revolutionary forces around Se Eain Su village tract in the Phar Chuang village group, Kanbauk area. The clashes have continued for three days without pause.

HURFOM: At about 2:30 pm on August 9th, 2025, a junta’s regiment advanced into Pyin Htein village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. The regiment arrested four villagers and robbed two homes, taking cash and mobile phones.

A 40-year-old man said he was unable to follow them, so they beat and kicked him and abandoned him in a canal,” said a Pyin Htein villager.

The man beaten by the regiment has been admitted to the Dawei General Hospital. The three other men were released on August 11th.
“The one admitted to hospital is in the process of recovering. Among those released, Ko Min Ko Nile has bruises on his face and chest as he was beaten by the regiment. We’ve heard that each man had to pay a million MMK to get released but we can’t confirm this,” continued the villager.
At about 10 pm on August 23rd, the junta’s regiment advanced into Pyin Htein village and arrested 40-year-old Ko Khin Maung Htwe and Ko Karen. They also looted homes, taking rice, cooking oil and food.
“Everyone had to flee as the regiment advanced into the village. The two arrested men were released at the Office of the Long Lone Township General Administration Department,” said a Pyin Htein villager.
Junta’s regiments have repeatedly advanced into Pyin Htein villagers frightening residents. The male villagers dare not sleep in their village and have taken to hiding in farms at night.
Junta Troops Use Villagers as Human Shields in Yebyu Township
