Junta’s constant artillery attacks kill one villager and injures other two

HURFOM: In order to protect the “Ah Nan Kwin” military strategic base in Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State, the military junta launched air and artillery attacks for four consecutive days between December 14^th to 17^th, 2024.  These attacks killed a villager and injured two other residents.

Junta’s artillery attack on Kyike Hto kills husband and injures wife

HURFOM: At about 8 pm on December 19^th, 2024, the 602^nd artillery regiment targeted Win Ka Law village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State even though there was no active armed clash in the nearby area. The attacks killed a husband and injured his wife.

Weekly Analysis: Arbitrary Arrests and Enforced Disappearances on the Rise as Junta Targets Locals

HURFOM: The military junta uses arbitrary arrests as a tool to exert fear over innocent civilians. Since the attempted coup, the Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM) has documented those arrested and unlawfully detained by the junta in targeted areas of Mon State, Karen State, and the Tanintharyi region. In addition to arbitrary arrests, the military is also regularly detaining villagers who are not heard from again by their families.
 
The military junta detained the owner of a six-wheeled Canter truck allegedly used by the Ye Township resistance force (Ye Balu group) during their attack on the administrator of Ayu Taung village, according to the vehicle owner’s family and close contacts.

Frequent armed conflicts stop operation of schools in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: Frequent armed conflicts between the military junta and the joint revolutionary forces in Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State, have forced schools in the township to be closed for more than a year.

Schools in Yan Goat, Kaung Hmu, Ye Lell Gone, Out To Tell, Kaw Nwe, Tan Ku, Taw Naw and nearby villages have ceased their operations due to constant armed conflicts.

Ten young men per ward must serve as conscripts in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On December 12^th, 2024, the Director of the Township General Administration Department met with residents from six wards in Kyarinnseikyi Town, Kaw Ka Rate District, Karen State and demanded that each ward must send at least ten conscripts.

HURFOM: According to local sources, at about 1 am on December 15^th, 2024, the 210^th light infantry battalion arrested a young man who had just returned from a festive event in Mudon Town, Mon State, according to local sources.

Three family members arrested in Maw Ka Nin

HURFOM: On December 13^th and 14^th, 2024, three family members from Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta after being accused of providing support to the People’s Defense Force.
