HURFOM: In the early morning of August 30th, 2025, 30-year-old Ko Thein Htike Oo, aka Ko Mon and his wife both from Man Yan Chaung village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division, were returning from shopping in Ka Lane Aung Town. Ko Thein ran over a landmine beside a motorway between Ma Yan Chaung and Kaw Hline village.  He sustained a serious injury to his leg, while his wife was uninjured.

They came back from shopping. The motorway was blocked with a chopped tree between Ma Yan Chaung and Kaw Hline villages. So he had to drive his bike beside the road and ran over a landmine. His wife escaped injury from the explosion,” said a local villager.

The couple had fled from their village due to heavy armed clashes and they needed to buy food in Ka Lane Aung Town as their displacement was prolonged.

Currently, Ko Thein Htike Oo is receiving medical treatment at the Dawei General Hospital.

Both revolutionary groups and junta’s army are active in the place where the landmine exploded. The road was blocked by chopping down a tree,” said another source.

The junta’s army and the joint revolutionary armed groups have heavily been battling in Ma Yan Chaung village and the entire population fled in early August, 2025.
