Junta-appointed Administrator and four civilians arrested in Long Lone

HURFOM: In the third week of November, 2023, a junta-appointed Administrator and four residents from Long Lone Town, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta.
On November 16, Ko San Shay, the junta-appointed Administrator for Ward #C, Long Lone Town, was arrested by a joint team of soldiers and police forces at his home.
Four residents from Long Lone Town were also arrested at their homes on November 19.
“The junta has not conducted any arrests for a long time. We don’t know why they did this arrest,” said a Long Lone resident.
The four arrested civilians were released on November 20 after paying an unknown amount extorted by the military junta.
“We don’t know why Ko San Shay (Administrator) was arrested. He is still detained,” said another resident.
The military junta has tightened its security in Long Lone Town and about 30 troops have stationed themselves at Long Lone General Administration Department Office.
