HURFOM: From January to June, 2025, military junta’s airstrikes killed 35 innocent civilians and injured 155 residents in Mon, Karen and Tenasserim areas of Southern Burma, according to the data collected by HURFOM.

The junta conducted 59 airstrikes which killed 17 men, nine women and nine children and injured 81 men, 41 women and 33 children.

There were airstrikes without active armed clashes. There has been no armed clash on the ground in “Karn Nee” but the junta targeted the village monastery with airstrikes even on the Sabbath. They also attacked the displaced persons camps. They have been launching attacks targeting civilians,” said Nai Awe Mon, the Program Director of HURFOM.

The junta also intentionally attacks non-military targets such as schools and monasteries killing and injuring schoolteachers, students and monks.

The Mon Federal Council has been assisting airstrike victims with monetary support and each victim has received from 100,000 to 1,000,000 MMK.

If the head of the family was killed by an airstrike or artillery attack, we’ve provided clothes, rice and money to help re-construct their house. We’re providing support to assist in rehabilitating the victim’s lives,” said a member of the Mon Federal Council.

In 2024, the junta launched 22 airstrikes in Mon, Karen and Tenasserim regions and killed 46 innocent civilians.
