Four young men from Ka Mar Wet arrested by army

HURFOM: On July 23rd, 2025, two young men from Ka Log Tog village and two other young men from Taung Pa village, Ka Mar Wet Town, Mudon Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta. They have not been released as of today.
The Ka Mar Wet police force and the junta’s army jointly raided a “card gambling event” in Ka Log Tog village track and arrested two young men for possession of a pistol and ammunition.
Then, the police checked their phone and arrested two other young men from Taung Pa village after accusing them of having connection with the arrested young men.
“After checking the phones of the two arrested young men, the police found photos and they arrested two other young men from Taung Pa village,” said a local source.
Currently, friends of the four arrested young men have run away and are in hiding, according to a local source who prefers to remain anonymous.
The source said one of the four young men was a member of the New Mon State Party (Anti Dictatorship); however, the remaining three others had no connection with any armed group.
“The pistol was owned by the young man from Taung Pa. The young men from Ka Log Tog wanted to go to the “card gambling event” and hired the pistol from his friend. Then, they were arrested at the gambling event with the pistol. They haven’t been released yet,” said another local source.
The four young men are being detained at the Ka Mar Wet Town Police Station and have not been allowed to meet with family members. The authorities have not provided information on what specific charges are being used to detain the men.
