HURFOM: On July 1, 2023, the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) attacked a police check-point located on the Chaung Hna Khwa Bridge, Kyaikmayaw Township, Mon State.

In response, the junta’s troops indiscriminately shot at a nearby area and killed a villager.

The victim was 30-year-old Ko Nyein Chan, who lived in Chaung Hna Khwa village. He was on his way back home from his plantation, when he was killed.

On that day, the junta closed the bridge for two hours. Now, villagers are allowed to pass the bridge as usual,” said a resident.

The junta’s social media platform is claiming revolutionary forces launched artillery attacks on Chaung Hna Khwa village and killed the villager.
