Mawrawaddy Navy Command arrests four women in Yebyu: Alleging links to flower strike

HURFOM: On June 20, 2023, four women ranging in ages from  40 to 50  years old, all from Phaung Taw village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command at about 7 pm.

The military junta came and arrested them, saying they have  pictures they posted online on June 19 that may link them  to the “Flower Strike”,” said a Phaung Taw resident.

Ma Ohm Mar Aung, the owner of a private nursery school, and her husband from Phaung Taw village were also arrested at midnight of June 19, 2023.  At the time of publication, no information was available as to the charges.

On June 19 and 20, 2023, six people were arrested and interrogated by the military junta in Kan Bauk and Phaung Taw villages. None of those arrested have been released yet.
