Junta’s artillery attack injuries three children in Kha Lae – Da Gon Die village

HURFOM: At 7 pm on June 19, 2023, the military junta launched an artillery attack on Kha Lae – Da Gon Die village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State and injured three local villagers. There was no armed resistance in the area that preceded the attack.
The Artillery Battalion responsible is based in Ah Bit village, Mudon Township, Mon State, according to local sources.
“Three villagers were hit by artillery shells and suffered serious injuries. They are receiving emergency treatment now. The remaining villagers run away,” said a villager.
The victims are, 18-year-old Maung Lu Pu, 17-year-old Maung Moe Dee from Da Gon Die village, and a 16-year-old boy from Pu Lane village.
The artillery battalion has frequently launched attacks which have destroyed plantations and homes in villages controlled by the Karen National Union.
Villagers near the military base fled their homes two years ago, and have been unable to return.
The artillery attacks have now killed three and injured more than ten villagers.
