HURFOM: Since early July, 2025, the 12th regiment of the 4th Brigade operating under the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) has been extorting 80,000 MMK per tank of gasoline from the gas stations in Pyin Bu village, Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division.

The Sin Toe, Boat Taung and Inn Ma Security Gates which operate under the 12th KNLA regiment have been applying a heavy taxation regime on gasoline transported from Myeik Township.

Padoh Min Oo and Commander Htoo Ka Phaw of the 12th regiment of the 4th Brigade ordered their forces to extort 80,000 MMK per tank of gasoline. If you transport 30 or 50 tanks of gasoline, you have to pay 30 or 50 times the ransom. They have demanded the money immediately like we’re in debt to them,” said a local woman.

Padoh Min Oo has threatened gasoline importers that if they fail to pay the money, their truck and gasoline tanks will be burned and destroyed.

In addition to the heavy taxation, gasoline importers have been physically and verbally abused by the KNLA troops.

There have been written and verbal reports made to KNLA officials, but the spokesperson for the 12th KNLA regiment has ignored the matter for more than a month.
