Junta arrests 16 workers during conducting check on visitors in Kaw Thaung

HURFOM: At about 10 pm on July 28th, 2025, the junta’s army and administration team conducted check on visitors in 8-Mile, 11-Mile and 12-Mile villages, 10-Mile village track, Kaw Thaung Township, Tenasserim Division and arrested 16 workers after accusing them of failing to file “visitors’ report”.

The workers are in the age range of 20-40 and the arrested included five workers from 8-Mile village, four workers from U Tin Nyunt’s Company in 11-Mile village and a worker from U Aung Ko Lwin’s Stone Mining Company and a worker from Ko Tin Aung Moe’s Company in 12-Mile village, five workers from brick factory in 10-Mile village and a 10-Mile villager.

On July 29th, eight workers were released after paying ransom of 700,000 to 800,000 MMK to the army and guaranteed by their bosses.

Moreover, there was also visitors’ check in 9-Mile and Tar Nyone Par Da villages and the “Nyaung Yoe” Stone Mine on July 30th and mine workers and plantation workers were arrested. However, HURFOM is still unable to confirm the accurate numbers of the arrested.

The military junta has demanded five young men from 10-Mile village track to serve as conscripts and after that demand, the junta has been conducting more arrested under the topic of checking visitors.
