HURFOM: The military junta launched two air assaults on a shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State. The first attack took place at 12 pm on February 19 and the second occurred at 09:30 am on February 20, 2023.
The three IDPs including a 14-year-old child were injured in the attack. In total, more than half a dozen innocent civilians in Kaw Ka Rate Township were injured or killed in the attacks.
“They launched an airstrike at midnight yesterday, and then another strike took place at about 9:30 am the next morning, February 20. We also heard artillery gunfire and small weapons fire around the town,” said a Kaw Ka Rate resident.
The military junta has frequently launched artillery and air assaults targeting the shelter. The IDPs are suffering from insecurity and mental stress.
