Monk repeatedly rapes 11-year-old girl and makes her pregnant

HURFOM: In Ma Yin Ngae village, Myeik Township, located in Tenasserim Division, a monk repeatedly raped an 11-year-old schoolgirl. The child is now four months pregnant.

“She didn’t menstruate last month and she got sick so we went to the clinic. At that time, the doctor said nothing special. He didn’t think (she got pregnant) as she is very young. But we went to the clinic again on January 1 and after a thorough check, the doctor said she was four months pregnant,” said her parents.

The parents asked the girl what had happened and she told them that a monk had raped her five times at his monastery.

The monk threatened her not to reveal the truth, and said if she spoke out, he would kill her and cause trouble for her parents.

“She is our only daughter. We want the monk to spend his whole life in prison. We’ll do everything to get him jailed. Our daughter is the same age as his daughter or granddaughter but he had no sympathy,” said the parents.

After an investigation by monk officials, village Administrator and police forces, the 47-year-old rapist was rescinded from the monastery and arrested by the Myeik Police.
