Administrator and members of militia group extort travelers in Mudon

HURFOM: Since April 8th, 2025, the administrator of Nine Prime village and members of local militia group have stationed themselves in the security gate at the entrance of Mudon Township, Mon State and extorted money from travelers. Each traveler has to pay 10,000 MMK and each motorbike owner has to pay even 100,000 MMK.
“We have to use that route every day so we can’t pay the money. Today, even soldiers are present at the security gate. The joint team of soldiers, police forces and militia members are conducting “stop and check” in early morning. If you use that route, you have to be check and pay the money,” said a driver.

Nine Prime village administrator U Aung Myint Than has also arrested young substance abusers in the village and forced them to join conscription after receiving money.
He also frequently visited and checked factories, workshops, guest houses and KTVs and sexually harassed young female staff, local sources reported HURFOM.
