Junta arrests young social workers who provide aids to earthquake victims

HURFOM: On March 18th, 2025, 7.7 deadliest earthquake in Burma has killed more than 3,600 people and destroyed numerous buildings and temples in Sagaing, Mandalay and Naypyidaw. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of people have victimized by the earthquake. 

However, the military junta had arrested young social workers from Mudon Township, Mon State who went to the earthquake-effected areas to provided monetary support, food and household items to the earthquake victims. Moreover, the junta had also seized their truck and donation items.

Later, the junta had released the young men but have not returned the donation items.

The young arrested were released days ago. But the junta didn’t give back the truck and the donation items,” said a Mudon resident.

Currently, the earthquake victims have urgent needs of electricity, drinking water, food and health care.

However, the junta has blocked the rescue teams and released an order that every rescue team must cooperate with them.
