Junta arrests two government staff and four business owners in Paung

HURFOM: On February 24th, 2025, troops from the 102nd Light Infantry Battalion arrested U Myat Ko Ko, the Chief of the Paung Township Fire Brigade, U Kyaw Myo Hline, the Vice Chief of the Paung Township General Administration Department, Ko Zar Ni, the owner of the “Taw Win” Dormitory, and three other business owners – Ko Moe Ngae, U Zaw Win Myint and Daw Kyaw Kyaw San.
The junta has accused the arrested of providing financial support and food to the People’s Defense Force.
“I’ve never heard that they provided support for the PDF. Now, the junta creates false accusations and arrests whoever they want. Last month, they also arrested 20 young men from Oak Tar village,” said a local villager.

No one knows the whereabouts of the arrested and family members no longer are able to contact them.
On February 21st, 2025, the military junta arrested a tutor from Oka Tan Dar village, Paung Township and local people think the latest arrests might be related.
