Long Lone PDF arrests elderly man

HURFOM: On February 14th, 2025, the Long Lone Township People’s Defense Force arrested an elderly man from Tha Kyat Taw village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division, according to local sources.
60-year-old U Aung Tay who lives in Dawei was visiting his daughter in Tha Kyat Taw village to join her in a ceremony celebrating “moving to her new house”. Approximately ten members of the Long Lone PDF came to the house by car and arrested him.
“There were six PDF members in the back of the vehicle and three members in the front part. They wore full uniforms and held guns. U Aung Tay lives in Dawei. He is working as a clerk in the general administration department. That is why he was arrested,” said a source close to the victim’s family.
The Long Lone PDF has not released any statement about the arrest and they have not released U Aung Tay as of today.
On February 8th, 2025, 25-year-old, Ko Zaw Win Thu from Inn Zout village was arrested by the Brigade #1 of the Dawei District PDF but was released three days later.
Since February 1, 2021, both the military junta and the People’s Defense Force have been arresting villagers using a variety of accusations, and some of those arrested have forcefully disappeared.
