Junta seals and seized freelance reporter’s house after arrest and killing him

HURFOM: At about 1 pm on November 22nd, 2024, a joint team of the military junta sealed and seized the house of a freelance reporter Ko Htet Myat in Lat Pya village, Hlell Lan Kuu village tract, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.
Ko Htet Myat was recently arrested and killed by the military junta who claimed he was connected with the People’s Defense Force. Then, they sealed and seized the house owned by his mother Daw Soe Soe Khine.
“I know nothing. A day before they came to seal and seize the house, the police forces said I could move out my things. They can also arrest me if they want. Both my father and mother have suffered from a stroke. They can do as they want,” said Daw Soe Soe Khine.
The junta has charged Daw Soe Soe Khine at the Kyie Hto Regional Police Station under the Antiterrorist Act sections 49(a), 52(a) and 54. The maximum penalty is the death penalty and the minimum penalty is a 43-year imprisonment sentence.
On November 5th, 2024, the military junta arrested six young men from Oak Tan Dar village, Paung Township, Mon State after accusing them of being the members of the PDF and then, the junta sealed and seized a total of six houses owned by their parents.
