HURFOM: Since September 9th, 2024, the military junta has been launching indiscriminate artillery attacks to Kaw Bane village track, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State forcing the local villagers to flee their home.
According to the local villagers, the military regiments based in Dhammasa and Ta Ra Nar villages, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State and the 81st light infantry battalion based in Zar Tha Pyin village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State are responsible for the attacks.
“We have to sleep in other villages at night and come back home in day light. Our children are having exam at the moment so we have to look after them,” said a local villager from Kaw Bane village track.
Most villagers have fled to Mawlamyine Township and Kha Yar village and on September 29th, the junta’s artillery attack injured a 49-year-old woman from Min Yaw village and destroyed three houses.
“We have to move to a place where is away from the artillery target. If we have relatives in other villages, we have to take shelter at their houses. There has been no villager who flees to cities,” said a local villager.
At the moment, the military junta has forcefully been conducting national census in the area and the local villagers are worrying about possible armed clashes between the military junta and the local resistance forces.
“We’re afraid of that our village will be burnt down like Dhammasa. Even we have to flee, we have to leave one family member to guard our house. It’s to reduce the loss when our village will be burnt down by the junta,” said a Kaw Bane resident.
On October 5th, the junta had targeted Kyune Gone village, Ta Ra Nar village track, Kyikemayaw Township with artillery attack and injured two children, one woman and other three villagers.
Since April, 2024, there has been military tension in area around “Gyaing River” and residents from Kaw Bane, Dhammasa, Tan Ka Laung, Ta Ra Nar, Kaw Pa Line and other neighboring villages have to flee from their home.
