Junta’s troops raid houses and extort money from residents in Long Lone

HURFOM: After launching military operations in Tha Byar, Ra Hong Wad and Pan Da Lell villages, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division, on July 14, 2024, approximately 80 junta troops reached the Long Lone Town Police Station and scattered their forces across the town.

The regiment has stationed themselves at schools and routinely enter and search the houses of the residents.

On July 17th, 2024, troops raided some houses and extorted money from homeowners.

“They’ve stationed themselves at school and hid themselves everywhere in the town. They also invaded the empty houses. We’ve heard that they extorted money from the house near the automobile service station,” said a Long Lone resident.

Some Long Lone residents have fled to Dawei City and other nearby villages.

“About 10 troops marched to Lat Khat Taung (Mount). The remaining soldiers have stationed themselves at 11 hostels alongside the Myo Ma Road,” said another resident.

The military junta has maintained a presence in Long Lone Township since July 1^st. They also conducted an indiscriminate artillery attack that killed a 17-year-old girl and injured four other residents. In addition, at least three houses were damaged by the artillery attacks.
