Junta’s indiscriminate artillery attack injures woman, damages 12 houses in Thaton

HURFOM: On February 4rth, 2024, the military junta launched an indiscriminate artillery attack on Nyar Hta Well village, Thaton Township, Mon State that injured a local woman and damaged 12 houses, according to the statement by the Thaton District Karen National Union.
The Thaton based Artillery Regiment attacked Nyar Hta Well village at night. There was no active armed clash in the area.
The artillery explosion injured the left knee of 42-year-old Naw Ma Hla Baung and damaged 12 houses.
“An artillery shell was dropped at night. Five minutes later, another one dropped again. A woman sustained an injury. Some villagers were frightened and ran away that night. Now, some of them have returned home,” said a Nyar Hta Well resident.
According to the 2014 census, Nyar Hta Well has nearly 1,000 residents and most of them are ethnically Karen.
On February 2nd, 2024, the military junta targeted Noe Phar Gaw region, Bilin Township with artillery attacks and damaging three houses.
