More than 20 villagers arrested In Yebyu, all released except mother and child

HURFOM: On February 4rth, 2024, the military junta arrested more than 20 local villagers in Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division. Approximately 50 troops entered Tha Pyae Zoon and Min Dut villages, then brought them to Yat Daw Mu Pagoda (Standing Buddha) on the west riverbank of Yebyu Township.
Nearly all were released by the evening except for a three-year-old child and 30-year-old mother who remain detained, according to local sources.
“Nearly all of them were released in the evening. But the mother and her child haven’t been released yet as of February 4rth,” said a local source.
The military junta is conducting more and more interrogations in the Tenasserim Division. Villagers said the junta checked villagers’ mobile phones and interrogated them looking for connections with the People’s Defense Forces.
