Military operation in Na Bu Lae forces 3,000 residents to flee homes

HURFOM: On September 6, 2023, the junta launched another military operation in the Dawei Special Economic Zone, aka the  Na Bue Lae area, located in Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division. 

Approximately 3,000 residents have had to flee from their homes as a result.

The military unit included about 100 troops and involved  three trucks.

Residents from Wa Zun Taw, A Ka Ni, Kha Maung Chaung and surrounding villages, fearful for their lives fled their homes.

“The military entered the village at about 3 am then left at around 4 am.  Although it was a short amount of  time, villagers did not dare stay. All those from Kha Maung Chaung left their village,” said an A Ka Ni resident.

On August 8, the junta launched military operations in eight villages and burnt down houses; arrested villagers to serve as a human shield; looted from homes. 14 houses from A Ka Ni and Wa Zun Taw villages were burnt down.
