HURFOM: Killing and arresting innocent civilians in Ye Township has been on the rise since the declaration of martial law.
Local sources report that on February 9, 2023, a man named Nai Bin from Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, in Mon State was killed by the Burmese military.
Nai Bin was a plantation worker and was shot to death at about 2 am while on his plantation. Another villager told HURFOM that Burmese soldiers invaded his plantation and shot him three times.
“He was killed at about 2 am. Neighbouring plantation workers found his body at 4 pm on February 10 and informed his family members,” said a neighbour of Nai Bin.
Another Maw Ka Nin villager named Nai Kyaw Oo, was arrested at his home by the 106th Light Infantry Battalion on February 7, 2023.
“On his way back to his home from the plantation, Nai Kyaw Oo had an argument with soldiers from the 106th LIB on the evening of February 6,” said a Maw Ka Nin villager.
His family members have lost contact with Nai Kyaw Oo since his arrest. The military allowed them to meet with the victim on February 12, 2023.
