Underaged young man arrested in early February, by junta’s navy still not released

HURFOM: On February 6th, 2025, the Mawrawaddy Navy Command arrested a 17-year-old male and his friend from Taung Yin Inn village, Phar Chaung village track, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim.
The navy released the friend after both were interrogated but they detained the young man. He has not been released as of today.
“I don’t know what they saw in his mobile phone during the check. We have no trace of him as of today. His family has been inquiring about his whereabouts and situation,” said a source who wants to remain anonymous.

As of February 12th, 2025, no one knows the whereabouts of the young man.
According to villagers, most residents arrested by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command have forcefully disappeared.
In 2024, the navy command arrested one adult man and immediately after his arrest there had been no trace of him. Finally, the navy contacted his family and informed them he was dead and they were to come and collect his body.
