HURFOM: On January 29th, 2025, the People’s Defense Force attacked and took control of the “Shwe Gu Bridge” security gate located on the Dawei – Tha Yet Chaung Motorway, inTha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division.   The PDF force burnt down and destroyed the security gate.

In the evening, a junta’s regiment consisting of about 100 troops launched both small and heavy weapon attacks and advanced on Yaung Maw village.

On January 30th, 2025, the regiment burnt down ten houses in Yaung Maw village.

Following the PDF attack on the security gate, the military regiment entered the village. For the next 3 days they burnt down houses. We clearly saw the smoke coming out but no one dared to approach the village,” said one Yaung Maw resident.

The junta’s artillery attacks killed 52-year-old Daw Khin Nwe and injured a 30-year-old woman. Details about the younger woman’s identity are not yet known.

She was taking a bath when the troops entered the village. The artillery shell dropped and exploded on the road in front of her house and she was hit by artillery debris. The junta blocked the road so we couldn’t request anyone’s help to bring her to hospital. She died of excessive bleeding. Another woman was also hit by artillery debris and admitted to the Dawei General Hospital,” said another villager.

The regiment again burnt down two houses in King Shay village on February 2nd, 2025.

They are now stationed in Yaung Maw village and have launched military operations targeting Shin Mote Tee, Saw Wa, Yaung Maw and Yin village of Dawei Township and Say Phyat Gone, King Shay, Kyar Inn and Saw Phyar villages of Tha Yet Chaung Township forcing local residents to flee their homes.

No one dares enter the village and some are stuck inside the village,” said a local man.
