Two siblings arrested by junta disappear in Dawei

HURFOM: According to local sources, on November 4th, 2024, two sibling sisters from Way D village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta in Dawei, and there has been no trace of them since after the arrest,
20-year-old Ma Yu Hline Hnin and her 18-year-old younger sister were arrested by the junta at the “Lat Yar Thit” shoe store near a school in Myaung Pa Lel Ward, Dawei City.
“We don’t know the reason for their arrests or their whereabouts,” said a Way D resident.
There has been no trace of two siblings as of December 5th, 2024.
“Such arrests are a routine in Dawei these days. No one knows the whereabouts of those arrested. Even if an inquiry is made, no one gets any update,” said a local source.
According to a report by the FE5 Tanintharyi on November 19th, 2024, 208 residents from Tenasserim Division were arrested by the junta under various accusations. 147 were released and four were killed.
