Villager killed by artillery attack: Residents flee homes in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On September 13th, 2025, the military junta’s indiscriminate artillery attack killed 50-year-old U Win Aung, who was fishing in a stream near Than Pa Yar village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.
His body was found by the villagers in the morning of September 14th.
The artillery attacks also caused casualties and residential damage. As a result, residents from Than Pa Yar and nearby villages have been fleeing their homes.
“The situation isn’t good in the village. Everyone has run away. Not only our village but also other villages have fled. We come back to check our houses in the daytime but no one dares to sleep at home at night. The army is launching artillery attacks and some villagers got injured. They are still launching their attacks as of today,” said a Than Pa Yar villager.
Since early September, the junta’s regiment has positioned itself near Chaung Hna Kwa village, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State. They reinforced their presence with additional troops and launched indiscriminate artillery attacks on Than Pa Yar village and nearby areas located along the Za Mi River.
Displaced villagers have taken temporary shelter in other villages located on the opposite side of the Za Mi River and y are urgently in need of food and shelter.
