Junta’s troops beat and kill villager and injure seven residents in Bilin

HURFOM: On October 11th, 2024, junta soldiers recklessly arrested and beat local villagers. The soldiers were shopping between Mell Pa Lee and War Khaw Pow villages, Bilin Township, Mon State.
57-year-old Saw San Win from Mell Pa Lee village was killed on the spot and seven other villagers were injured.
“Their regiment went shopping and encountered eight villagers in the shop. The things they wanted were out of stock, in response, the soldiers recklessly beat the villagers. The soldiers also hit them with their rifle butts,” said Ba Doe Saw Aye Nine, the Secretary of the Thaton District Karen National Union.
The five injured villagers were arrested and taken to the Mell Pa Lee military base while the two were admitted to the Myine Ka Lay Hospital.
Those arrested were released on October 14th and were threatened that if they made news on social media, they would be arrested again.
The Thaton District Karen National Union claimed the troops were from the 405th Light Infantry Battalion which operates under the 8th Military Operation Command based in Tenasserim Division.
