Junta’ air assaults killed 14 civilians in Kyarinnseikyi Township

HURFOM: On July 19th, 2024, the military junta launched an air assault despite no armed clashes in the Kyaw K O area, Dar Le village tract, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State. The air assault killed 14 civilians and injured four villagers, according to Saw Nanda Sue, the Advocacy Coordinator of the Karen Human Right Group – KHRG.
The junta’s aircraft dropped a 500-pound bomb and the bomb exploded near a monastery. The bomb explosion killed five men and nine women and injured four other villagers.
“The entire kitchen of the monastery was totally destroyed. There was no armed clash and the junta just launched a reckless air assault,” said Saw Nanda Sue.
The injured villagers were sent to a hospital in Win Ye Township, Duu Palar Yar District which is under the control of the Karen National Union, according to the statement by the KHRG.
“Since 2021, there has been frequent and constant air assaults by the military junta across Burma. Thousands of innocent civilians have been killed or injured,” continued the coordinator.
Also on July 19th, 2024, the junta dropped a 500-pound bomb on a monastery in Nga Pu Inn (new) village, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State which is under the control of the KNU killing more than 20 civilians and ten members of resistance forces.
