Junta bans transport of gasoline in Long Lone creating livelihood and transportation hardships

HURFOM: Beginning on March 3rd, 2024, the military junta imposed a ban on transportation of gasoline in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.
A military check-point located at the Dawei – Ka Myaw Kin Bridge was not allowing the transportation of gasoline, which created fuel shortages in Long Lone City and nearby villages. Subsequently, the price of gasoline has sharply risen.

HURFOM: On February 15th, 2024, junta’s security forces stationed at Ka Dar village, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State extorted money from local villagers who were unable to show their ID cards.
The security forces conducted “interrogations” in front of the Ka Dar Police Station on Mudon – Chaung Hna Kwa Road and extorted between 3,000 to 5,000 MMK from the local villagers who failed to show ID cards.

HURFOM: An 18-year-old girl from Hin Thar Kyune village, Chaung Zone Township, Mon State was raped by her neighbor two months ago.
The 50-year-old man raped the girl more than one time at a barn near her house while her parents were away.

HURFOM: On March 2nd, 2024, the New Mon State Party (AD – Anti Military Dictatorship) arrested three local militia leaders from Kaw Pi Htaw village and Sein Taung Ward, Kamarwet City, Mudon Township, Mon State.
In response, the 318th Artillery Regiment based in Ah Bit village, Mudon Township arrested three women who are relatives of members of theNMSP (AD).

HURFOM, First Week of March 2024
Across the first week of March, there continued to be widespread attacks against civilians who have been abducted and detained on baseless charges. The junta is rapidly losing bases and territory across target areas of the Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM). In response, the Burma Army has scaled up attacks against the people, notably those spearheading the Spring Revolution.
On the evening of 28 February 2024, another teacher affiliated with the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) was abducted in Kanbauk, Yebyu, Dawei. Military junta troops arrested the 48-year-old CDM teacher, Daw Mee Mee Zaw, from Khaing Thazin Ward:
“They raided the house and abducted her. They put a black hood on her head. It’s confirmed that she was taken,” a woman from Khaing Thazin Ward reported to HURFOM. The woman continued to disclose that the CDM teacher, Daw Mee Mee Zaw, was arrested for allegedly teaching National Unity Government of Myanmar (NUG) education online.

HURFOM: Since March 1st, 2024, both the military junta and the People’s Defense Forces have been active in Kyaung Yaw village, Ye Township, Mon State. The military junta launched indiscriminate artillery attacks triggering nearly 800 residents to flee their homes.
The 591st Light Infantry Battalion based in Kyaung Yaw is responsible for the artillery attacks. They are also aggressively checking and interrogating passengers.

HURFOM: On February 24, 2024, the military junta arrested a 19-year-old woman from Pa Nyit village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.
According to the local sources, Ma Khine Zar Soe went to Dawei City to visit her husband and was arrested in front of the Long Lone City Police Station.

HURFOM: On March 4rth, 2024, the military junta launched an air assault on Zone Zin Phyar village, Tha Yet Chaung Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division, which killed an elderly woman and injured 4 others.
The military ordinance hit a vehicle traveling from Dawei to Myeik and a 60-year-old woman was killed. A 10-year-old child and three other passengers sustained injuries.
