Woman dies in shooting incident in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On January 4rth, 2024, a shooting took place near the village market in Moke Pa Lin village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State that accidentally killed a local woman.
Two unknown gunmen on a motorbike shot 40-year-old Nyi Nyi Lwin who was a notorious informer for the military and the police. He was shot at a betel nut shop near the village market.
During the incident, 38-year-old Daw Hnin Ye Htwe was accidently hit by a bullet and died at the spot. The bullet penetrated her left temple.
“The entire market is frightened after hearing the gunshot. We heard about six gunshots. Later, we learnt a police informer was shot. Ma Hnin, who lived in front of the market, died. She was shot while having her meal in front of her house,” said a local resident.
The military junta and police came to inspect the place an hour after the shooting.
“Most shops were closed after the shooting incident. But the market returned to normal on January 5th,” said one vendor.
