Junta beheads villager and burns down 21 houses in Long Lone

HURFOM: On December 28th, 2023, a military regiment attacked Sit Byell and Lay Toon Khan villages, in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. During the attack, junta’s troops beheaded a villager and burnt down 21 houses.

The regiment included about 100 troops who entered Ka Nyone Kyun village on December 26th and in the morning of December 28th, they entered Sit Byell and Lay Toon Khan villages.

Junta forces arrested some villagers and burnt down nine houses in Sit Byell village and 12 houses in Lay Toon Khan village. Troops also decapitated a Sit Byell resident.

He and another four Sit Byell residents were arrested. The others were released. We recovered his body on December 29th and cremated it,” said a Sit Byell villager.

The victim was 35-year-old Thwin Ko Ko Myat.  Junta forces accuse him of planting a landmine, according to a source who wants to remain anonymous.

A huge blood stain was left in the village. His head and body were parted in different places,” said a local man.

The regiment went to Gog Inn village and stationed themselves at the monastery. Then, they entered Yebyu Township on December 29th and burnt ten motorcycles and some houses in Pain Nell Taw village.

On December 30th and 31st, they entered Ka Dat Ngae, Yet Thein, Ka Dat Gyi, Nat Sin Shaung, Pyin Chaung and Kyet Yet Twin villages and arrested 30 villagers and burnt down more houses.

“They arrested villagers to use as human shields. The arrested victims included five women and some men. They were all released on January 1st, 2024. The junta extorted one million MMK for their release,” said a Kyet Yet Twin resident.

At the moment, the regiment has re-entered Gog Inn and stationed themselves in the village.
