Four residents arrested by junta in Kan Bauk

HURFOM: On December 17th, 2023, a man and three women from Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta in their home at midnight.
On December 14th, the Mawrawaddy Navy Command based in the town was attacked by a drone. Three days after the attack, the junta arrested 50-year-old Ko Thar Gyi, his wife Mi Kyaung Eye as well as Ma Than Than Soe from Hlell Gone Ward and 38-year-old Ma Thel Su Moe from Mark Kin Ward.
“The junta came with two military trucks at 12 am midnight and arrested them at their homes,” said a Kan Bauk resident.
The arrested residents are truck drivers, grocery store owners and landlords. No one knows their whereabouts. Family members think they may be detained at the Mawrawaddy Navy Command.
“Before the arrests, patrolling junta forces checked the faces of locals attending a funeral and those in public areas,” said a resident.
In the last week of November, 2023, the junta arrested two men from Kan Bauk and released only one man.
