Rubber plantation worker injured by landmine explosion in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: At approximately 3 am on November 7, 2023, a landmine exploded near  #102 Shwe Phyu Rubber Plantation, which is owned by the Prison Department of Thaton Township, Mon State.  The explosion injured a plantation worker.

The victim was 50-year-old U Zaw Win, and he came to the plantation by motorbike to tap rubber trees. He suffered injuries to his hands and legs.

There was a landmine explosion at a rubber plantation owned by the Prison Department. A plantation worker was injured. He was sent to hospital two hours after the explosion. It’s lucky he wasn’t dead,” said a local source.

U Win Zaw has received treatment Kyike Hto General Hospital.

The local people told HURFOM that no one except their staff are allowed to go to their rubber plantation.  Local residents believe the landmine was planted by the military junta.
