Two women injured by artillery explosion in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On November 2, 2023, an artillery explosion in Ward #2, Kaw Ka Rate Town, Karen State resulted in injuries to an 85-year-old old woman and her 40-year-old daughter.
The Karen National Liberation Army attacked the Kaw Ka Rate 97th Light Infantry Battalion and the military responded with multiple artillery attacks.
“Soon after we heard the sound of gunfire in the outskirts of the town, there were multiple artillery attacks. Then we heard the house of Grandma Daw Ngwe Than was destroyed. Both of them were sent to Kaw Ka Rate General Hospital,” said an official from a local rescue team.
On October 27, at least five residents from Kaw Ka Rate Town were killed by junta’s artillery attacks.
“We’ve learned that the Burmese soldiers attacked the wards with shoulder-fired launchers. The house of a teacher from Basic Education High School #1 was totally destroyed. She died from a head injury,” said a local resident.
On October 13, 2023, there was artillery explosion in front of a high school in Ward #2 and a schoolgirl was killed and another three students were injured.
