Junta kills villagers and torches houses in Na Bu Lel

HURFOM: On October 28, 2023, a military unit entered villages in Na Bu Lel area, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and killed four villagers and torched five houses.

The military unit consisted of more than 100 troops and they left the Na Bu Lel area on October 22. However, they re-entered the area again on October 24 and launched military operations targeting Lel Shaung, Pa Ra Dat and Htein Gyi villages.

The military unit killed three men and a woman from Pa Ra Dat and they also torched three houses from Lel Shaung and a house from Pa Ra Dat village.

Two men and a woman were beaten and killed. The military burnt their dead bodies together with their houses. They also beat and killed another man and abandoned his body at Htein Gyi village,” said a local source.

Many residents from Lel Shaung, Pa Ra Dat and Htein Gyi village were arrested and taken by the military. Some were released but at least ten villagers are still being detained.

We’ve burnt the dead body abandoned at Htein Gyi village. Half of the military unit left for A Ka Ne village on October 26 but they re-entered the village again the next morning,” said a villager who ran away from his village.

The junta has launched a huge military operation in the Na Bu Lel area from October 20 to 26, 2023, and many villagers from the area have to flee their homes.
