Civilian injured in an armed clash in Bilin by drone bomb attack

HURFOM: On August 24, 2023, the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army and the People’s Defense Force dropped a bomb using a drone on military and the police force stationed at “Shwe Than Lwin” tollgate on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway Road nearby Dough Yet village, Bilin Township, Mon State.
During the attack, a 35-year-old man from Sa Yar San Ward, Bilin was hit by a piece of bomb at his nape and sustained an injury to his head.
“The victim was on his way back after collecting bamboo for his plantation. When passing through the tollgate, the bomb dropped and he was hit by a piece of bomb. He was sent to Bilin Hospital,” said a Dough Yet resident.
After the attack, the junta forces had responded by recklessly shooting artillery and small weapons. They blocked the road and conducted an aggressive check of hundreds of vehicles.
