Junta’s reckless shootings injure two residents in Pa La

HURFOM: At about 7 pm on August 17, 2023, a military truck patrolling Pa La Town, Pu Law Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division struck a landmine.
The soldiers from the truck responded by recklessly shooting at homes in the area. A man and a woman were shot and injured. Many houses in Ward 3 were also damaged by the gunfire.
“They got shot while sleeping. We dare not go to hospital that night as they’re afraid of being accused and arrested. They had to suffer the injury for the whole night. They went to the Township Hospital the next morning,” said a local woman.
The man has been receiving treatment in Pa La General Hospital while the woman has been sent to Myike General Hospital.
Following the incident, the military junta launched artillery and small weapon attacks on Tan Shin village till 7:30 pm.
