Junta’s troop arrested eight villagers in Tha Yet Chaung

HURFOM: On May 8 and 9, 2023, the junta’s troops entered the villages of Well Yit and Ya Ngae in Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division and arrested eight villagers.
According to local sources, on May 8, a military column of 50 soldiers entered Well Yit and arrested two villagers. On May 9, the troop went to Ya Ngae village and arrested another six villagers.
“The eight villagers were detained at the temporary military base in Ka Myine village. They were beaten and tortured during the interrogation,” said the source.
The detainees have bruises on their heads, hands and legs and bodies. Their family members have been worried they may have been killed.
Villagers from the area have now fled from their homes.
