Junta’s airstrike destroys monastery and houses in Dawei Eastern Forest area

HURFOM: At about 10 am on September 15th, 2025, the military junta dropped bombs and shot machine guns on Pa Kar Ri village, located in the Dawei Eastern Forest area, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division. The attack destroyed the village monastery and three houses.
On September 14th, junta’s regiments based in the Pa Kar Ri Regional Police Station and the Yat Kan Sin Monastery were attacked by the joint resistance forces.
Armed conflict continued until the next day, when the junta targeted the Yat Kan Sin Monastery with airstrikes and machine gun attacks.

Their attack destroyed the roof and ceiling of the monastery and pagodas in the premises. At least three nearby houses caught on fire and were destroyed.
“Their main target was the Yat Kan Sin Monastery. Now, four buildings and all common halls in the monastery have been completely destroyed. Nearby houses were also damaged,” said a resident from the Dawei Eastern Forest area.
Villagers said a local man from Pa Kar Ri village was killed during the air assault. HURFOM is working to confirm the source.
The air assault has forced more than 3,500 residents from Pa Kar Ri and Pa Khat villages to flee their homes.
“This morning (September 17th), a junta’s Y12 aircraft dropped bombs twice on Pa Kar Ri village and nearby area. We do not yet know any details about casualties or damage,” said a local source.
Local villagers reported to HURFOM that the regiment that had been based in Pa Kar Ri village left the village on September 16th and advanced towards Kyauk Pan Daung village.
