Junta’s regiment arrests and kills local man in Thaton

HURFOM: According to local sources, on May 30th, 2025, a junta regiment from Win Tar Ban village, Thaton Township, Mon State arrested and killed a 50-year-old local man.
The regiment consisted of more than 100 troops who were returning to their base in Win Tar Ban village when they encountered Saw Lar Htu. They conducted an arrest and took him with them.
On June 3rd, 2025, villagers found the body of Saw Lar Htu between Pu Yit Khoe and Inn villages, Thaton Township.
“They just abandoned the body beside the village road near the forest. He had bruises on his face and entire body. The whole village knows he was arrested by the junta’s regiment,” said a Pain Nell Taw villager.
Saw Lar Htu leaves behind his wife and three children.
According to the data collected by HURFOM, the shooting and killing of local civilians takes place frequently in Mon, Karen and Tenasserim regions. There have been 44 cases in March; 45 cases in April; and 36 cases in May, 2025.
